Joe Markee is a Managing Director of Express Ventures. He brings extensive experience in early stage company formation, capital raising, corporate management, and public and private corporate governance. Joe’s entreprenurial experience includes founding and senior management roles at Primary Access, a telecommunications equipment provider which was acquired by 3Com. Subsequently, he was the founding CEO, CTO and Chairman Copper Mountain Networks, a carrier equipment supplier whose public market capitalization exceeded $1 billion. Following that, he was CEO of Figure 8 Wireless, acquired by Chipcon and subsequently Texas Instruments. Joe currently serves on the boards of Dot Hill Systems (HILL) and Metalink, LTD (MTLK). He was a founding board member and served as president of the San Diego Telecom Council.

Marco Thompson is a Managing Director of Express Ventures. Marco has diverse executive, technical, marketing and operating experience from start-up to $50,000,000 revenue run-rates. He was the founder of Doctor Design, a leading engineering services firm focused on embedded development in consumer entertainment devices such as set top boxes. Dr. Design was acquired by Wind River in 1996. Marco has been active in the startup world, and has a rich resume as a mentor and investor in dozens of San Diego based technology startups. He is a founder and past president and chairman of CommNexus, a San Diego organization focused on the communications industry.
