Express Ventures is the "Go To" source for early stage financing of San Diego based technology companies.  Joe Markee and Marco Thompson each have a distinguished record of mentorship and support of San Diego entrepreneurs.

 

To us, "Pre Series A Financing" means any financing that a startup receives before a traditional venture fund invests a minimum of $3,000,000 in preferred equity.

 

Most of our portfolio companies had some initial funding prior to our involvement.  This has included investments from the entrepreneurs, friends and family & angels.

 

Our job at Express is not to replace traditional venture capital.  Quite the contrary, we depend on VC's for subsequent financings in our portfolio.  We hope that our investment of $500,000 to $1,000,000 will give the founding team the time and the resources to prepare fully for the venture process.  We expect our portfolio companies to close subsequent financing within 9-12 months. We will only work with companies that can convince us that they will be ready for a venture round within 12 months.
